Pick ‘n’ mix chicken and chickpea puree

Use seasonal fruits and vegetables to create a versatile and delicious puree for your baby. This chicken and chickpea puree is a great recipe for you to adapt to your baby’s favourite tastes and textures.

Ingredients

  • 100g chicken breast or thigh, chopped
  • 2 cups pick ‘n’ mix vegetables and/or fruit (see below)
  • 2 tbsp chickpeas, rinsed and drained
  • ¾ cup of water
  • Pick ‘n’ mix options: Choose 3-4 of the following vegetables/fruit: Potato, Sweet, potato, Carrot, Corn, Peas, Broccoli, Zucchini, Apple, Pear

Method

Step 1

Place the chicken and your pick ‘n’ mix ingredients in a steamer basket over a saucepan of boiling water. Cover and steam for approximately 10 minutes or until the chicken is cooked through and the vegetables are tender. -

Step 2

Place the cooked chicken, vegetables and fruit together with the chickpeas in a blender or food processor and puree, adding water as needed, until you have the desired consistency. -

Step 3

Storage: place in an airtight container and store in the fridge for up to 24 hours. Alternatively freeze in individual portions for 1-2 months. -
