Baked Apple Tarts

It’s hard to resist warm baked apple humming with the flavour of cinnamon. Such a delicious tart to have for afternoon tea with the kids, or shared with friends. The whole family can enjoy making these and coming up with pretty ways to present them.

We used a number of different shapes and sizes:
– 4 equal squares
– The 4 square cut into 4 again for smaller bite size tart
– Cookie cutter heart shape
– Cut one of the ‘4 equal size squares’ in 2, filled with some mixture and rolled it up like a little parcel.
Nutrition Note: This yummy apple tart is best enjoyed as an occasional sweet treat rather than an everyday snack.

Ingredients
- 2 green apples, thinly sliced
- 1 tsp brown sugar (optional)
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp butter, melted
- 1 sheet puff pastry
- 1 egg, lightly beaten
Method
Step 1
Preheat oven to 200°C. -
Step 2
Place melted butter, brown sugar and cinnamon in a bowl and mix together. Add the apple, coating all the slices.

Cut pastry sheet into 4 equal squares (or get creative and try other shapes).

Step 4
Layer the apple mixture on to the pastry and brush edges with egg. -
Step 5
Place on baking try lined with non-stick baking paper and cook for 10-15 minutes or until golden and puffed.
