Chicken, Pear & Broccoli

I know a few Mum’s who say their children love their breakfast and enjoy eating fruit but when it comes to vegetables and savoury foods – not so much.  Babies have a natural preference for sweetness over savoury.  Introducing vegetables first when you begin solids can be a good way to get your bubs to enjoy their vegetables.  Another way is combining vegetables and/or meats with their favourite fruits and then slowly reducing the amount of fruit and sweetness in their main meals.  Apple and pears are often good fruits to combine with meat and vegetables.

Nutrition Note:  Including fruit as part of the main meal helps to maximise iron absorption due to its vitamin C content.

STARTING SOLIDS: Do you know anyone who is about to start their baby on solids? Or perhaps you’re after some new puree and finger food ideas for your own baby? Our e-Book is full of recipe’s, nutrition advice and forming positive food associations right from the first mouthful to help you and your baby through any fussy eating phases in the future. That’s great news Natasha! As he eats and enjoys it you can slowly reduce the amount of fruit/sweetness and slowly introduce new colours and flavours. I’m glad we could help. Jx
